SWEET BEGINNINGS: Vivian and Kevin met at Cornell University when they both volunteered as pre-orientation leaders during their sophomore year. They were friends for some months before sparks started to fly. After a sweet and nerve-racking walk to Sunset Park, they started dating. Seven years later they tied the knot!
PERFECT PROPOSAL: Funnily enough, it took three attempts at a proposal! For attempt number one, Kevin prepared a lovely home-cooked meal with the ring in the water pitcher. This was a complete fail because Vivian didn’t notice the ring clinking around when she herself poured the water. In a second attempt, Kevin created a fun scavenger hunt around the house. Vivian couldn’t even find the first hint. On the third and final attempt, Kevin ditched the subtle attempts. He showed up at her front door in a suit and tie with the ring in hand. Third time’s a charm!
STARRY FAIRYTALE: Vivian wanted to create the feeling of childlike wonder in her wedding day—the type you get when discovering a new world, unwrapping a present or letting your imagination run free in magical worlds or space. Inspired by the night sky, stars, crystals and minerals, adventure and the movie Stardust, Jennifer Laura Designs planned a New Years Eve wedding for the couple in hues of bronze, copper, oxblood, eggplant, cerulean and navy with neutral accents.
SAVORY SWEETS: When the couple found Jessica Henderson of Green Lily Bakery, they were so happy! Their cake was soft, light, and not too sweet. It was a light buttercream chiffon cake that had a layer of homemade Nutella in it. Jessica decorated the cake with moons and stars, complementing the theme of a starry fairytale so well. Every slice was devoured!
