Kate Schirm and Brad Sorenson’s Elegant Austin Wedding at The Blanton Museum of Art
SWEET BEGINNINGS: Kate and Brad met in Austin at a small Italian restaurant, Asti Trattoria. Brad was the sous chef and it was Kate’s first day as an extern.
A PERFECT PROPOSAL: After several attempts that Kate apparently foiled, Brad finally proposed a month before their four-year anniversary. Brad along with 29 others were being honored by Zagat at Qui for their first “30 Under 30” award for rising stars in the culinary world. Brad was in cahoots with Mr. and Mrs. Zagat, and after the presentation he grabbed the mic and proposed in front of the entire audience. Kate was shaking, but felt it was undoubtedly perfect! One of Kate’s favorite parts of the proposal was the professional photos and videos that captured the magical moment!
THE SETTING: After spending a lot of time at The Blanton, Kate had always kept the museum in the back of her mind as a possible wedding venue. She loved the beautiful, modern and open space filled with art from various eras.
HUES SHE USED: Kate and Brad knew they wanted everything to be sleek, modern and elegant. Kate loves black and white because it’s classic and sophisticated. Adding gold accents, Kate stayed true to her monochromatic style and elegance.
PRETTY PAPER: The couple’s simple ivory Teton with black ink invitations were custom-made at Paper Place. Kate personally painted an abstract design on each invitation using black and gold paint. She was inspired by place settings she saw at a luncheon at Bergdorf Goodman.
