From frothy, organza dream layers to sleek and tailored minimalist looks, we’re still ogling over the new collections and can’t wait to see them on real brides in the months to come. Whether you’re looking for regal and romantic or prefer something a little more whimsically bohemian, you can certainly guarantee you’ll find something to love from the fall/winter 2020 collections! While it’s nearly impossible to pick out our favorites, we spotted some emerging trends that just may be the perfect contenders for your wedding day look! Read on for our top picks and re-watch all the fashion week buzz on our Instagram highlights!

Top Three Trends from Fall/Winter 2020 Bridal Fashion Week

Power Colors

This upcoming season, the non-traditional struck a true power pose on the runways in the form of statement-making gowns in colors quite outside the norm. For the boldest of brides, you’ll soon see a variety of richly hued options to break up the traditional ivory/white options, most notably in the form of reds, pinks, blues and even black! Even if you’re not ready to party with the idea of a white wedding dress, consider this an option to note for a rehearsal dinner statement, or perhaps a fun reception second dress. We’ll forever be dreaming of this decadent Monique Lhuillier gown in a delicious petal pink! Look for it soon at Julian Gold!

Statement Shoulders

While seasons past and present have advanced the off shoulder silhouette into a staple shape, a new look this season notably taken from ready-to-wear collections made its way across the runways of quite a few designers: the puff shoulder. With nods to an 80s revival, you’ll find current versions of this style to reflect more of a structured shape than those of yesteryear, adding a boldly modern touch for the more fashion-forward bride! We love the addition of a plunging neckline and belt on this Pronovias take for an even more stylish appeal. Find this style in-store soon at Beatitude Bridal Boutique!

Bridal Tailoring

While punchy hues and sharp shoulders may suit some brides, others are clearly after a more timeless yet minimalistic look for their wedding day attire, as noted across many collections showing cleaner lines and tailored shapes. The bridal blazer was a standout takeaway this season, shown over bias cut silk slips, A-line sheaths or paired back to pants and extremely beautiful embellished veils, as exhibited here with Justin Alexander’s take. Again, certainly a style to consider for rehearsal dinners, reception changes and after parties, and even more perfect thrown over a little dress for a post-wedding brunch! Look out for this (and all the other amazing styles) in stores soon at Blush Bridal Lounge!

We just can’t get enough of Sally + Michael’s stately elegant wedding held at The Driskill Hotel in Austin! Planned by Eclipse Event Co., this event showcases a bold color scheme pairing feminine fuschia with masculine navy, making for a classic, timeless wedding theme that isn’t going out of style anytime soon. Florals by Malleret Designs take center stage in every part of this wedding whether functioning as bold, attention-grabbing blooms in centerpieces and decor, or clean, fresh bouquets for the bridal party. We love how these newlyweds incorporated their furry best friend in wedding photos. What a cute and fun way to capture a day you (or your pet) won’t forget any time soon! Cheers to Sally and Michael!

From the bride: “Marcela at Malleret Designs was absolutely amazing. She accommodated all requests and executed everything perfectly, even during a time crunch. She even stuck around to watch the wedding and helped with little details. Her flower arrangements were stunning and Marcela was such a pleasure to work with.”

We are there all day long, taking care of every detail,” Taylor explains. See for yourself some of Taylor’s designs and work below!

Don’t you just love the dreamy hues and coastal vibes in this wedding scene? “I love the vibe of this styled shoot. It had such a beach feel, but located in central Texas. I enjoyed incorporating oyster shells, and I love the dusty blue color — I think it’s my favorite color right now!”

As for pinning down her own signature style, Taylor says this: “I would describe my style and design aesthetic as romantic and fun – not overly formal.”

Real Wedding Love

“The bride and groom portraits were my favorite detail of this wedding,” Taylor says. “These two were just so in love and it was so sweet to see how unbelievable these came out.” We love how this wedding incorporates just a few trends, while mostly staying timeless and classic in style. As for Taylor’s favorite trend? “I’m loving champagne walls!” she says. “I think it’s such a fun touch to cocktail hour.”

Taylor’s biggest advice to brides is to not sweat the small stuff (that’s her job!). “Relax!” This should be a fun process. Find a planner that matches your style and makes you comfortable!”

Solid advice, for sure. To get in touch with Taylor Bible Weddings, you can message her directly via her Brides of Austin vendor profile page!

Ask the Expert - Q&A with Kristen La Voie Photography

Describe your photography style.

Natural and romantic with lots of genuine emotion, real smiles and belly laughs! Shot with both digital and film formats.

Tell us what you love most about being a photographer.

It’s a privilege to be chosen as someone’s photographer. You are given behind the scenes, up close and personal access into their lives and most private moments. To be the one to capture it all, so these most important memories can live on forever, is not a role to be taken lightly. I get to imprint myself into the biggest days of their lives in the most unique way!

What has been a favorite moment you have captured?

I love all moments, big and small, but I recently had the opportunity to document a couple’s favorite band surprise them at their reception. Their reactions and raw emotion were priceless.

Are you pro first looks?

Yes, if they make sense for the couple! Firstly, I would never want to push something onto them they are not comfortable with. But if their day consists of everything taking place at the same venue with the reception immediately following the ceremony, it makes the most sense to have one. If there is enough time between the ceremony and reception for all their photos and to not feel rushed, then it is not necessary. It’s all about comfort level, keeping a nice flow to the day and having everyone happy!

Where are your favorite places to shoot?

I love personal locations to the couple, like their favorite coffee shop, where they hike with their pup, in the kitchen cooking together and their own backyard. Places where they’ve shared great memories together mean more than just a generic pretty location. But as always, also a spot with great light!
